I read a post earlier about tattling. A couple of years ago, the creative lady next door to me, Mrs. Halatyn, showed me an ear she uses to get students to stop tattling. I have used it ever since, and students have cut down on the tattling tremendously. Here is my version of the ear:

I love the idea of Mr. Ear.
ReplyDeleteI can remember teaching my third graders "tattling is when you want attention, or you want to get something in trouble. Telling is for serious issues, or anything that involves danger or safety. Do tell. Do not tattle."
THanks for sharing.

I also had a problem with tattling, most of us do in first grade, I guess. I use a tattling turtle and it works like a charm. You can check it out on my teacher blog faithfulinfirst.blogspot.com and see if you like it. The post is called tattling turtle. I like Mr. Ear, I might use him next year to switch it up, especially if I loop with my kiddos.
ReplyDeletePaige, I don't have them write a note. They just go whisper their "secret" to him and move on. Haha :)
