My absolute favorite activity to do with my kids in the Springtime is to have them build their own kites and fly them. I put together some kite themed activities to do the week of our kite project. At the very end of the unit are instructions on how you can do the "Build a Kite" lesson.

Cute Jenna! In answer to your question about my students' handwriting. We don't have a program (it's up for adoption) and I barely have time to teach proper letter formation, but I emphasis neatness on final projects and most of my students aim to please.

ReplyDeleteYou are a genius! Everything in your unit could be applied in my first grade class. I especially like the Build Your Own Kite Project. I could not come up with a Family involvement project for March. This would have been excellent. I am saving this for next year. Thank you for sharing.

In the last few weeks I have becom a blogaholic...I now have about 140 blogs in google reader! Yours is the first one that I have gone through all the way thoroughly. I've gone through the comments and found other teachers blogs. Next week is spring break and I plan to launch my own teacher blog. I'll let you know when I do and I hope you will check it out. I LOVED your /oo/ game! We have /oo/ spelling words in third, but they are obviously longer/bigger. I was wondering if you would be willing to email me a blank tissue sheet in word along with the name of the font you used (& where you got/purchased it) so that I could modify the game for my third graders?
